Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) has reported the results of scout RC drilling at its Viuda Prospect, in Chile, where it is unearthing “a very exciting target”.
The company drilled seven holes for a total of 1,020 metres.
Results confirm a porphyry-style alteration system with zoned geochemistry.
"The Phase II drilling programme at Mostaza is now complete,” chief executive Sam Garrett said in a statement.
“Whilst we begin the detailed work of evaluating all the drill results to this stage the proposed metallurgical test work and detailed exploration along trend will continue.”
Garrett added: “With gold prices currently at all-time highs, the gold-silver rich Maricunga-style porphyry gold and copper vein alteration evident in outcrop at Viuda represents a very exciting target for GSC."
Drilling data in detail
Hole RC005 returned 12 metres at 1.5 g/t gold and 0.47% copper from 132 metres depth. This included 2 metres at 4.4 g/t gold and 0.94% copper.
Trace element data suggests mineralisation and grades improve to the south. A diamond drilling rig has been mobilised to the Viuda Negra prospect.
Outcrop samples from Viuda Negra returned assays up to 4.2 g/t gold, 145 g/t silver and 0.56% copper.
