Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN) has welcomed experienced gold industry executive Rowan Johnston to the company’s board as a non‐executive director.
Johnston, a mining engineer, brings to the company more than 30 years of extensive operational and corporate experience in the Australian mid‐tier gold sector.
Recently appointed as chairman of ASX‐listed Wiluna Mining and Gascoyne Resources, he was a director and executive director in various companies including Bardoc Gold, Excelsior Gold (ASX:EXG), Mutiny Gold, and Integra Mining earlier in his career.
September quarter for updated Cardinia MRE
Johnson's operational experience and involvement in the Leonora district and the eastern and northeastern goldfields will benefit Kin at a time when the gold explorer is making progress towards the potential development of its 1.28-million-ounce Cardinia Gold Project in Western Australia.
Kin is in the midst of updating the mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Cardinia Project following the completion of a substantial exploration and development program over the 2021-2022 fiscal year that significantly improved the understanding of the geology and enhanced metallurgical performance of the sulphide ores, particularly from the extensively mineralised eastern corridor area.
The company aims to complete the MRE in the September quarter.
Located in the highly prospective northeastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, the project currently has a 1.23-million-ounce gold mineral resource defined in both oxide and deeper primary mineralisation.
