Pair a steak bake with a Bollinger at Greggs’ new Champagne bar

Natives of Greggs PLC (LSE:GRG)’s home turf Newcastle will soon be able to enjoy a flute of Champagne with their cheese and onion bake at a new high-top bar situated in the Fenwick department store on Northumberland Street.
Those with elevated taste buds will be able to dip their sausage, bean and cheese melt into a selection of delicately curated dips, including a harissa coconut yoghurt and a romesco sauce with almonds.
The refined menu will be paired with “champagne from France and Italy”, indicating a degree of contempt for Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) designations from the sausage roll slinger.
Dishes will be served for less than £5, with cocktails ranging between £7 for a non-alcoholic and £12 for a ‘Cream Éclair’ featuring vanilla vodka and dark chocolate liqueur.
“Whether you’re looking for a place to take the in-laws or there’s something that calls for celebrating with a bit of fizz, we’ve got you covered,” declared Greggs.
“After all, it’s widely known that a Sausage Roll is infinitely better with a glass of Perrier-Jouët,” said Greggs.
The Geordie haute cuisine elite will be the judge of that when the bar opens in Fenwick’s Northumberland Street food hall on Thursday, 24 October.
